It's been a hell of a time getting Drigg for Drupal 6 out the door, but this afternoon Tony Mobily has released this long-delayed update to this Digg-like module for Drupal. Eleven months after the first Drigg for Drupal 5 release and nine months after Drupal 6.0 was released, yes, it's finally here!

Looking for a Digg-like script, I searched Google and found Drigg. Downloaded the code, installed it, and in less than 2 hours, my site was ready to run, although I was not familiar with Drupal. Congratulation to the Drigg team for this great code.

I posted this on phpbb.com before I became aware of open-source Digg clones. I think there's a lot of potential in applying the Digg mechanism (with some discussion-board features) to the exchange and development of ideas; and that a version of Drigg which works with local rather than external content would serve as a decent starting-point. If anyone’s interested please contact me.

The first version of User Karma for Drupal 6 is available! Please test it and file issues as you find them! This module will keep track of your users' karma using the fantastic VotingAPI. It does so by assigning one vote per user, where the vote is the user's karma.

Karma is a shorthand way of showing how active someone is in Launchpad. If you have a Launchpad account then you also have a karma score. Karma is simple: roughly speaking, the higher someone’s karma score, the more active they are in Launchpad. There are a couple of things to note, though: karma decays: something you did six months ago earns you less karma than something you did today not all actions are equal: some work earns you more karma than other work.
