Michael Rooney: All Dell Minis Available with Ubuntu!
http://mrooney.blogspot.com –
I just checked out the Dell website (US) and noticed that all the Dell Inspiron Minis can now be configured with Ubuntu, and for $40 cheaper than the same Windows setup! Previously you could take the base Ubuntu system and increase the specs to match the other Windows configurations, but you would miss out on the "Instant Savings", which could save you up to $40. Now you can not only get the Instant Savings, but you save another $40 just for choosing Ubuntu. Read more »

Alan Pope: Adobe Hits Eleven on the Irony Scale
http://popey.com –
I learn from Cali Lewis via her twitter feed that Adobe are talking about developing a version of Flash for the iPhone.
Paul Betlem, Sr. Director of Engineering at Adobe Systems confirmed that Adobe is working on Flash for iPhone. He was speaking at the Flash On the Beach Conference and said, “My team is working on Flash on the iPhone, but it’s a closed platform.”
Am I the only person to find it deeply ironic that Adobe should complain that the iPhone is a closed platform when their own web platform 'Flash' is closed, and they have no intention of opening it up. Read more »

Jorge Castro: It's ISO testing time ....
http://feeds.feedburner.com –
Friends, Romans, countrymen! Lend me your vm's, desktops, and hardware that is laying around. I have come to test the Intrepid ISO, not to praise it (yet)! The bugs that releases do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones. The noble sabdfl has told you that Intrepid is ambitious ....
Ok, enough bad poetry. Now is the time to help test the Intrepid ISOs - The also noble Henrik has put a call to test the beta ISOs. Instructions included in the post. People with 64 bit and DVDs are really needed.
See you on #ubuntu-testing! Read more »
Jordi Mallach: A horrible Valencian tradition

My workmate Pep was kind enough to drive me home back from work today.
Ideally I would have cycled home as always, however today my bike was stolen
again. It's not the
first time or
the second one, not even
the third. My
red Orbea is the fourth bicycle that gets stolen since cycling became
my primary means of transportation more than 10 years ago. Read more »

For those of you who may not have seen Dereck’s email, today is OpenOffice.org Hugday! On a Hugday, we try to triage as many bugs as possible that are related to a certain application. The best part is, everyone is able to participate. You can read the HelpingWithBugs wiki page to learn about some of the basics related to bugs. The page also provides several helpful links to other wiki pages. For anyone who might use 5-A-Day, Hugdays are great opportunities to increase your ranking by triaging/fixing bugs. Read more »
Richard Johnson: Open Source Company Awarded 2008 Technology Innovation Award
http://blog.nixternal.com –
Woohoo! We found out last night that the company I work for, Cleversafe, won the top award in the software category in the Wall Street Journal’s 2008 Technology Innovation Awards. The other super cool thing besides the fact they are my employer, is that our software is open source! With Open Source companies winning more and more technology awards these days, it is definitely reflective on how much our community has grown and how much amazing work is coming out of the many great developers out there. Kudos to Cleversafe and the entire Open Source community! Read more »
Matthew Helmke: Wow, we are popular
http://matthewhelmke.net –
I was reading my friend K.Mandla’s blog and he commented that if you type “kmandla” in the address bar of Firefox, or in the Google search page form, and hit “I’m feeling lucky,” you end up at his website. That’s cool.
Just to see what would happen, I did the same using “matthewhelmke.” Guess where I ended up?
Will it work for all of us?

Richard Johnson: Who you should vote for
http://blog.nixternal.com –
Well it has been a while since my last post only because I have been super busy working here at Cleversafe and enjoying the challenge provided to me every day. Many of you think I have died and gone to proprietary heaven, but that isn’t true! I get to maintain and develop for a Linux distribution at work, and no it isn’t Ubuntu (unfortunately). Besides working I have recently quit smoking (again!), got a new car, looking at a new house, and riding my bike like crazy. Read more »
